Dynamics 365 Business Central Training: Drop Shipments

Introduction 

This Dynamics 365 Business Central training guide will provide you with a detailed, step-by-step approach for creating drop ship orders. 


Step 1: Log in to Dynamics 365 Business Central 

Begin by logging into your Dynamics 365 Business Central account. Ensure you have the necessary permissions to create sales orders and manage inventory. 


Step 2: Navigate to Sales Orders 

  • In the navigation pane, go to Sales. 

  • Select Sales Orders. 

  • Click on New to create a new sales order. 


Step 3: Enter Customer Information 

  • In the Customer field, select the customer for whom you are creating the drop ship order. 

  • Fill in the necessary customer details such as name, address, and contact information.

     

Step 4: Add Drop Ship Items 

  • In the Lines section, click on Add Line to add a new item to the sales order. 

  • In the Type field, select Item. 

  • In the No. field, select the item number for the product you are drop shipping. 

  • Enter the quantity and any other relevant details. 


Step 5: Specify Drop Shipment 

  • Click on the Shipping and Billing tab. 

  • In the Drop Shipment field, select Yes.

Step 6: Use the Requisition Worksheet to Create a Drop Shipment Purchase Order

  • Navigate to the Requisition Worksheets from the search. 

  • Click on the Get Sales Orders action under the Drop Shipment section of the Ribbon

  • Enter filters as necessary.

  • Review and adjust the suggested lines as necessary to ensure they meet your drop ship requirements.

  • Click on Carry Out Action Message to convert the lines into purchase orders.

  • Verify that the Purchase Order was created.

  • Verify that the Purchase Order is tied to the Sales Order.

  • Post the receipt of the Purchase Order to simultaneously post the shipment of the Sales ORder.
